Media & Stakeholder Notice:
As you know, on Friday, August 20, 2021 the Government of British Columbia’s Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, put stronger restrictions in place for the Interior Health Region to reduce the recent impacts of Covid -19 within our region. Part of these restrictions involves a maximum of 100 people for organized events, along with recommendations to limit non-essential travel to the Interior.
As outlined in the announcement, the challenges of containing Covid-19 were magnified during the summer, which was accentuated by the displacement of people from wildfires, which in turn increased the pressures on local health agencies. These restrictions will remain in place until September 30, 2021.
After the cancellation of the 2020 festival season, our hope and plan this October was to bring some much-needed support to our local businesses and community residents with our fall celebrations. Unfortunately, after much discussion, we are saddened to announce the cancellation of the Fall Festival of the Grape Weekend for 2021. Our priority is the safety of all our volunteers, participants, vendors and partners, and although we are extremely disappointed to cancel such an important event, we feel that it is the right call.
We will continue to work with the government, local businesses, and industry partners as we build toward Fall Festival 2022, a celebration that will bring us all together once again! During this tumultuous time, please continue to be kind to each other and support your amazing local businesses for this 100th anniversary of Oliver.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate this together. Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime at 778-439-2363 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
